White Snake

My home town is Iwakuni, Yamaguchi.There is a kind of snake called white snake."White Snakes of Iwakuni" are designated as natural monuments. These rare snakes are unique to Iwakuni City and cannot be found in any other area. They maintain an inherited character which the mutation of the color to white is stabilized. Grouping together, they make their home in a specific area. There has been no such precedents in the world and has been invaluable from the scientific point of view. Opinions of some experts is that the white snake is albinism resulting form a pigment insufficiency of the blue green snake going into a recessive stage.
However, there has been no established theoly to make it clear.

The number of living white snakes, however, is on the decrease. The urbanization of the habitat area prpgressing and the environmental influence such as the white snake's traditional food, the fauna of field mouses, has caused this decrease. Therefore, I heard that Iwakuni city working together with the Foundation for the Preservation of White Snakes are carrying forward a preservation campaign in one united body.
